John Redmond grew up in Dublin, then moved to England to take a D. Phil at Oxford. After two years in Minnesota he now lectures at Liverpool University. His first book of poems, 'Thumb's Width', was longlisted for The Guardian First Book Award in 2001. His second book of poems, 'MUDe', came out from Carcanet last year. He is also the author of a Creative Writing treatise, 'How to Write a Poem' (Blackwell, 2005), and the editor of a poetry magazine, 'Gallous'. Currently, he is writing a critical work, 'Privatising Poetry', for Seren.
