Welcome to arts & ego, my (dylan harris’) personal website.
I’ve posted photography, poetry, bloggery, music, software, & sin online since the ’90s. I’ve written poetry collections and artist’s books, published from the dreadnoughts onwards, but this place remains my ego core.
The content here is mostly mine; all else is acknowledged. The hallucinations are definitely mine: I’ve yet to try AI (for either initialism).
My inner nerd is pointlessly proud that arts & ego is hand–coded. It was once written in Notepad, as per a certain tradition, but now I use vi, code, bash, & the gratchy sed. Anything hand–coded bleeds, so I made the static site checker to bless.
The photography is both analogue (35mm, 120) and digital (rather dotty). I’ve used Aperture (RIP), DxO, and sometimes Studio Artist, to transmogrify.
I once used Sonic Foundry’s Sound Forge 4.5 Pro to sweeten the music and podcasts. Now I use anything to hand.
arts & ego has design principles! This may shock you. It would have shocked me when I first built it.
I understand some people like exploring a site’s story. To me, that’s rather like browsing the squashed guts of a roadkill, but, well, one has to appease one’s audience (he woofs), so … er … arts & ego is older than the hills, or at least far older than that hill of wishful thinking I made last week. If the detailed history of exactly what weeble was wobbled, when, excites you, then there’s the site’s trail, the older longer log, & even the ancient site vault.
Please do have a jolly good mosey.
