escher poetry — [O] :: 6

read the poem!

china roses
grannie’s sideboard
they’re long since lost
to me

figurines
nineteenth century soldiers
was there something
she was saying

real roses
an intoxicating breath of peace
taking over awareness
for just a sec

as do real soldiers
but that’s something else
grannie never told
unsurprisingly

true flowers in high summer
stun pottery’s every dimension
but when wintertime arrives
‘ware is all

i wish memory
was like china
something fixed
for the long night
