I’ve been trialing lomography films, & have grown rather fond of Purple (brocante :: xxix). (This image uses Red.)

Unfortunately, the films are dirty, sprinkled with dust, often scratched. Only their film has the problem, so it’s neither the processor nor my handling.

But there’s a big but(t): lomography’s founders loved the imperfections of Soviet photographic products. Their recreations can be rather interesting. Thus, not only the colour cast, the reason I buy their film, but also the poor quality of the film itself, reflects their origins.

I decided not to clean up some scans before posting them here: brocante :: xxxi & xxxiii. Browsers can decide whether the results are worth the effort needed to produce an acceptable image.

If I stop using these films, I’m going to have to teach myself how to colour cast in software. I experimented thus a while ago, and disliked the results. I should retry.
