the fact of the uncrossable

look
when i was a young man
my belief shone

a firing light
that drove straight through
the crystal of fact
so that
i didn’t see

marching
to the purity
the island
i believed

it was only those
in different places
who caught the warped shadows
saw the facts
and said

as i said those
they did not see

but some
that’s all
the occasional sum

so if i ignore
the people
who point out
the facts
that lie
at my feet
i lose

so if i distain
the people
who point out
the facts
that lie
at my feet
i lose

so if i kill
the people
who point out
the facts
that lie
at my feet
i lose

now imagine
that young me
could deny
those others to opine
to say those facts
i could not see

so many would
so many would
all that challenge
to the ego

the fact
of the uncrossable
between reality
and belief
