angst cycle (iii)
[Nj] (i)

chatting away on his saxophone
talking about a jolly day at work
it seems to me
he’s in the pub
somewhere country
he drives a fairly posh car
having a conversation
over the after work pint

the pub’s got the fire going
even though it’s a warm evening
the decor’s getting a little worn
but it’s polished to sprinkle sparkles
the landlord’s a jolly chap
sociable sense of humour’s slightly off
but so what he keeps the place cheery

the window shines in greenery
behind the shrubs a gravel bank
to the B–road
you can see the place
where the wheels skidded
in the grass
when those teenagers
killed themselves
