for forty years
this has been my london terminus
wrinkled like an old smoker’s face
with a glorious bar
and a refreshingly original gents

now
one of those so few places
where an erosion
by fashionable pointless boutiques
has added
because here
unlike so many wrecked landscapes
they do not dominate

the sunlight
the iron sky
