early monochrome portraits
Although these photographs are mostly of friends and family, I’m showing them here because I think they work as photographs.
Before I grew active in politics, I took photos at Thames Poly. Most of these images are student partying, of no interest to anyone but those there. But these two portrait photosets have their own value. Unfortunately, by my own error, I lost contact with the subjects.
My sister gave birth in the 1980s. A number of people, family and otherwise, attended the christening. My brother became a father in the 1990s. His children included these two gorgeous baby girls.
I experimented with self–portraits (the subject would do what I wanted so I could develop technique), but such things had a reputation of egotism, which put student me off.
